At the Mavi Spring showcase event, we discovered a wonderful brand that will change how you display plants in your home. Meet Terrart NYC!
Terrariums are sealable glass containers that contain soil, small stones, and typically plants that can survive with low nutrient levels. They’re clever flora displays in which the plants can detect the low nutrient conditions and grow according to the space available to them.
Completely self-sustaining, terrariums are low maintenance and affordable, compared to fresh bouquets from the florist. Whilst live flowers may only last between 5 and 14 days, terrariums will last for years if situated in plenty of light.
Terrart NYC was born in Venezuela in the eighties, initially starting as a small family-run business, giving family and friends a unique present. Now in New York City, Venezuelan-born Charly has expanded the family business to provide unique plant décor ideas and solutions for residential, commercial, and office spaces, integrating an ecological, artistic, and affordable concept.
Our favorite items in the brand’s collection are those made from upcycled vessels, including light bulbs, flasks and liquor bottles. The liquor bottles, featuring whiskey, rum, tequila and vodka bottles, are collected from the community in return for $5/bottle (compared to the standard 5c.) which not only supports the community but repurposes glass into new, long-lasting products.
They’re a colorful, innovative addition to apartments that give a minimalist, low-effort vibrancy and we’re sure you’re going to need one. Check out Terrart NYC here, or follow on Instagram for some home greenery inspiration.
