Vegas is known for the glitz, glam, gaming, and gambling, but it’s hardly ever on the map when we talk fashion.

Last summer, we were introduced to Inell Wilson, founder, and owner of the Las Vegas Swim Week, a fashion show dedicated entirely to swim fashion and more accessible for budding designers. With an annual fashion runway event, the goal is to connect designers to a larger audience and buyers.

Inell’s background is in fashion design, encompassing almost 18 years of experience in the design and manufacturing process, helped along by a seamstress friend who worked for Eddie Bauer. She loved every part of the fashion design process, but it wasn’t until she was pregnant, at home with not much to do but take baby rest, that she decided it was time to gain the fun, flexibility, and growth that going alone could give.

With experience in the show aspect of fashion, Inell had always loved working in the industry. Still, for many designers, you have to build up a network of contacts before you’re able to run a show. Knowing that those informative years are tough and how it feels to break through, Inell wanted to give smaller, younger designers in the swimwear space an opportunity to showcase.

Alongside Las Vegas Swim Week, Inell runs her brand Kavala. Kavala is predominantly swimwear and holds ranges of size-inclusive athleisure and women’s fashion. Each piece is designed with quality at the forefront, contracting the fast fashion values that are too prevalent in the industry today.

Set within the city, Season 5 of Las Vegas Swim Week will be from 9-15 August this year.
