This week, we saw an abundance of the Oscars’ red carpet and after-party looks. Although one of the most significant awards shows ever—that is treated much like a fashion show—has carried a lot of buzz this week, I couldn’t leave out other celebrity ensembles, as ready-to-wear fashion is arguably just as important and influential!
Karrueche — March 25th, 2022
Outfit: Balmain
Heels: Le Silla
This dress combines a few trends: oversized shirts, skirts worn on the hips, and a snatched waist. The proportions of the piece, in conjunction with stripes, make this piece both edgy and high-fashion. I’ve never seen horizontal stripes look so chic!

Cardi B — March 26th, 2022
Outfit: Alon Livné
Cardi B looked like live-action Ariel in this outfit she sported in a recent music video. I predict that we will see celebrities wearing chest pieces like this organically shaped, wispy looking one to award shows, red carpets, and even low-scale events. The top was paired with a tan skirt on the runway, but the pink satin skirt meshes better with the overall color palette.

Kim Kardashian — March 28th, 2022
Ear Cuff: Lorraine Schwartz
Dress: Balenciaga
Color? On Kim? Groundbreaking! Since her break-up with Kanye, Kim has been out and about in incredibly vibrant colors. She has recently worn quite a few outfits that included gloves, and I appreciate this trendy detail being carried throughout many of her looks, no matter the occasion. The attached gloves, train skirt and open back boost this otherwise simple dress.

Steve Harvey — March 29th, 2022
Jacket: Louis Vuitton by Virgil Abloh
Shirt: Louis Vuitton by Virgil Abloh
Who knew Steve Harvey could dress? I am obsessed with the whimsical mountain scene print across his button-up shirt and denim jacket. The purple trousers pair nicely with the colors in the jacket, and the shiny reflective shoes contribute to the fantasy feel of this outfit.

Zendaya — March 27th, 2022
Outfit: Valentino
We have been seeing Zendaya in many menswear-inspired looks lately, which I think speaks to her vibe while being a part of the show Euphoria. It seems as though we’re finding more feminine accents with each look. The difference is not so subtle in this case: a floor-length and silver-sparkly skirt with a train. The button-up being made of silk, sleeves to the elbow, and U-shaped cropped hem allow for an increase in the feminine edge.
