At Lincoln Center, fashion lovers gathered together for the New York Fashion Week event of the season; the annual American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection concert. This year your favorite celebrities strutted down the runway in red ensembles of their choice as the crowd enjoyed a fun fashion show to a live concert from Sheryl Crow.

I was blessed enough to be an MUA on the team for this amazing event, and I was able to chat backstage with the show’s Director of Makeup for the past eight years, Shar Sinclair. Sinclair states, “I love doing this event because we use beauty, fun, and fashion to support women’s health. My mother had three heart attacks recently, so I’m very passionate about the cause.” Cosmetics companies Clarins, Charlotte Tilbury, and La Perla supported the makeup team by sponsoring products for them to use for the show. It’s always incredible to see brands get involved with the causes; this is why I love the beauty community so much!

Celebrities such as Tisha Campbell, Teri Hatcher, and Gina Gershon hit the stage with several heart disease and stroke survivors to inform the public about women’s heart health. The fundraiser was created because heart disease is the number one killer of women. What better way than music and fashion to bring people together to raise awareness and celebrate the survivors of heart disease. “ The participants in the show are so diverse, and we individualized them with makeup by adding a little fairy dust,” says Sinclair.

I can say personally that it was an incredible evening filled with love and support. I hope to get the opportunity to work with this incredible organization again.
