Curly girl Mariah Carey and her beautiful daughter, Monroe, were spotted wearing matching hairstyles. The twinning mother and daughter duo hit the town with the cutest style braided in the front, letting their natural curls shine in the back. The styles were created by Mariah’s long-time hairstylist, Dior Sovoa. He shared that his secret weapon for creating this cool-girl style was British M Annatto Hair Oil. According to Sovoa, the luxurious oil “absorbs right into the hair.”

Annatto Hair Oil is an award-winning, gender-neutral, K-Beauty cult fave. It’s vegan and formulated with Amazonian Annatto and organic Pumpkin and Argan Oils to naturally nourish, shine, and smoothness. As you can see, Mariah and Monroe’s curls look super healthy and hydrated, with no frizz in sight!

As your beauty bestie, I would be remiss if I did not share a few tips on how to re-create this fun style at home. It’s much easier than you think. This dog can be worn on all hair textures from kinky curly to straight; it requires a different approach for each hair texture.

The front:

No matter your hair type, the approach to the front will be the same—section off the front by making a horizontal part from ear to ear. Decide how many braids you would like in the front; this part can be modified based on your preference. Mariah has about six braids in the photo, but Monroe has about 12. Start each braid at the hairline and back until you reach the part you’ve created. Secure that braid with a rubber band, and let the remaining hair loose. Continue this process until you reach your desired amount of braids.

The back:

This is where you get to decide what you would like your curls to look like. For wavy or curly hair, you can embrace wearing natural texture and define it with water, gel, or curl cream. You can do a braid out, twist out, or Bantu knot set for my naturals. You can use a curling iron to create your desired size curls for straight hair. Either way, the results will be gorgeous. As a finishing touch, add a little British M Annatto Hair Oil to tame frizz and add shine.
