As a family-owned black business, LLHOMD (pronounced lowm●d) has one goal: to provide excellent quality beauty, body, hair, and skincare products to women of color at affordable prices.

LLOHMD is a family-owned beauty brand, the brainchild of successful entrepreneurs being Lorna and her three sons- Haywood, Omar, and Daren Hawthorne.

The brand’s heart is woven into the brand’s core – each letter of LLHOMD represents each family member’s name and reflects family values: Lowell, Lorna, Haywood, Omar, Monique and Daren.

“Our mission is to serve Melanated women who invest (time, money and brainpower) in their hair and skin and need a quality affordable product to maintain and beautify their look. LLHOMD products are designed to nourish and maintain your look over time.”

Searching for products that kept her skin smooth, youthful, and vibrant, Lorna started the LLHOMD Beauty Care collection in her kitchen. Designed to be suitable for the everyday working woman at an accessible price point, LLHOMD believes your skin deserves only the best. The brand’s products are made up of delicious, natural ingredients like pomegranate, prickly pear, aloe, avocado, and lavender. The formulation uses rich antioxidants that provide long-lasting, anti-aging benefits to improve hair and skin over time.

Key products in the collection include Facial Oil, which can be used before or after moisturizing. It’s completely natural and keeps skin feeling soft and supple without leaving a greasy sheen. A little goes a long way, and it has a lovely natural smell. The Prime Skin Raw Shea Butter is another staple, and while designed to be a rich body moisturizer, it can also be used in small amounts on your dry face and hands skin. Be sure to check out the Pomegranate Moisturizing Toner and the Camomile Cucumber Soothing Body Lotion too.

This beauty care brand isn’t just about pushing products, though. It goes beyond retail. LLHOMD is about sending positive messages on inclusivity, family, and community support. The brand has begun with sustainability in mind, using recyclable glass vessels, and limiting external packaging such as outer cartons. They are also cruelty-free and vegan. LLHOMD continues to look at minimizing its carbon footprint and reducing plastic packaging as the company grows.

With prices between $10 – $24, the range is very affordable for a “luxury” skincare brand, with a plan for a percentage of sales to go to the Lowell Hawthorne Foundation in the future, after their late father. The Foundation helps students in underserved communities from the USA to the Caribbean with access to education. This summer, they will be disbursing around $40,000 in scholarships, to which the sales of LLHOMD have contributed.
