Last night was dreamy. The red carpet was full of Chanel Haute Couture, vintage Chanel, and Karl Lagerfeld-inspired renditions from all the amazing designers. Not only were attendees there to celebrate the exhibition’s opening and support the costume institute but also the event showed how much Karl Lagerfeld himself was admired and celebrated throughout his life.

Nicole Kidman was dressed in that iconic dress from the N5 campaign in 2004, and the event hosts Dua Lipa and Penélope Cruz wearing rare-to-see vintage Chanel Haute Couture pieces. Not to mention that there were also many impressive re-creations or re-design of Karl from Fendi, Balmain, Versace, Michael Kors, Tory Burch, and many more. The looks were beyond amazing. So, instead of just showing my favorite, I asked our Founder and Style Editor, Ikponmwosa, to share her favorites, too!

Ikponmwosa’s picks –

Bad Bunny in Jacquemus

‘‘Bad bunny is my best dressed because he went outside the box. He channeled the Chanel bride, which closed the shows, without sacrificing his masculinity. Strong, sexy, and manly walking with a floral train.’’‘Bad bunny is my best dressed because he went outside the box. Brian Tyree Henry in Karl Lagerfeld

‘‘I liked that this look was very large; he’s a big man and usually in basic attire. He was giving Andre Leon Tally.’’‘I liked that this look was very large; he’s a big man and usually in basic attire. He was giving Andre Leon Tally.’

Janelle Monáe in Thom Browne and REZA jewelry

‘I love TB. This look is honoring Karl’s Chanel years while still keep with Browne’s quirkiness. Also, anyone that follows Janelle knows black and white was her esthetic in the beginning of her career. ‘

Simu Liu in Versace and a brooch by Toni & Chloe Goutal

‘He’s sexy and will always be my top 5. Period!’’‘He’s sexy and will always be in my top 5. Period!’

Teyana Taylor in Thom Browne

‘‘This is giving if Karl was a sexy female vibe. I loved everything about this. She is showing my favorite part of the body, the hipbone.’’‘This is giving if Karl was a sexy female vibes. I loved everything about this. She’s showing my favorite part of the body, the hipbone.’

My picks –

Jennie Kim in Chanel RTW from Fall 1990 Show

One word… *PERFECTION*

Kristin Stewart in a look from Chanel Cruise 2017 Collection

I loved that she brought back one of Karl’s older collections, and looked so effortless and somewhat like Karl!

Quinta Brunson in Prabal Gurung

I loved seeing this sweet pink dress. It is very Chanel, but it was Prabal Gurung’s design inspired by Karl. She looked beautiful in it, and her hair and makeup were so on point!

Suki Waterhouse in Fendi by Kim Jones

This is a perfect Fendi look that, again, reminds us of Karl’s aesthetic, which is very elegant.

Emily Blunt and Michael Kors in Michael Kors

When they came on the carpet, it immediately reminded me of those moments when Karl walked down the runway with his bride at Haute Couture shows.

From both Ikponmwosa and me!

Last but not least, and probably be our best dressed! Ikponmwosa and I both chose this gorgeous look of Glenn Close in Erdem!!
