Miami Swim Week, dedicated entirely to swimwear and resort wear brands, is the opportunity to discover designers both new and old, serving up swimwear looks for all your summer (and winter) adventures. Style Editor Ikponmwosa Edorisiagbon headed out from New York City to the beautiful beaches of Miami to gather all the inspiration we need for the new season.
Dos Gardenias has two female founders (so of course we love this), Brighdie Grounds and Dorothy Day. Inspired by their travels, Brighdie and Dorothy set out to create a swimwear line that stands out not on aesthetic, but fit. They wanted their pieces to be the most comfortable and flattering garments and in order to do so have covered everything from implementing shelf bras to creating innovative hardware exclusive to the brand.
With swimwear made from recycled fishing nets, bottle caps and post-consumer plastic waste, Dos Gardenias create super sustainable, planet-friendly swimwear. But it’s not just about ocean plastic, it’s about style. The USP of Dos Gardenias’ designs are the two way stretch fabric, as opposed to the fourway stretch of typical swimwear, which gives a stronger hold and, as we mentioned earlier, helps with the longevity of the item.
Similarly to Spanx, the pieces in this brand’s collections are shape-fitting silhouettes and to increase versatility, each item is designed to be worn as a body suit or top as well as for vacationing, so they work well with jeans, skirts, shorts or even dresses.
In the Dos Gardenias collection you’ll find the perfect basics to pair with swim accessories and beachwear; and for the Spring and Resort collections more hardware will be introduced such as studs and rubberised texture details.
The Dos Gardenias flagship store opened its doors in Malibu, CA in July 2019. Stores in Maui and Sayulita, Mexico opened Spring 2021. The brand also partners with various conservation charities: Waves For Water, Charity: Water, Glam4Good, Earth Day Network, and Love The Sea.

Of course, what’s a swimsuit without a tan? Check out the bosses of self-tan, Mystic Tan, here.
