Decentraland, an NFT “metaverse” (digital “universe”) platform, will be hosting the first “digital fashion” fashion week from today to March 28. The shows will be streaming 24/7 for the duration of the time, with over 60 designers, including Tommy Hilfiger, Estee Lauder, and Etro. There will be giveaways, virtual Sims-like parties, and the option to buy digital clothing.

While the world of NFTs is new and confusing, we will be releasing an article in April that explains NFTs more and how you can claim the right to an NFT you have bought, so only you can display the digital art. An NFT is a snippet of media – be it a moment on a video, a moment of audio, a picture, etc. – that you own the digital rights to when you buy it. There is an NFT frame that only allows the owner of the NFT to display the specific NFT in their frame, and in this way, you can show that you own the NFT, in the same way a person could indicate that they own an original painting. Unlike with physical works of art, there is no doubt that the NFT in the frame is the original – the digital display CAN NOT be used anywhere else and CAN NOT be shown on any other NFT frame.

The first NFT fashion week is not something to miss, so be sure to go to Decentraland’s website, scroll down to events, and join the virtual fashion week for the next four days!
