Miami Swim Week, dedicated entirely to swimwear and resort wear brands, is the opportunity to discover new and old designers, serving up swimwear looks for all your summer (and winter) adventures. Style Editor Ikponmwosa Edorisiagbon headed out from New York City to the beautiful beaches of Miami to gather all the inspiration we need for the new season.
Andrea Iyamah is a Nigerian designer creating statement swimwear that looks and feels elegant, sophisticated, and sexy. It’s all in the details with this brand, from pleats and prints to frills in all the right places; this is the swimwear you want to be seen in.
Much of the new collection shown at Miami Swim Week was inspired by color tones and prints that help define body shape. Alongside some stunning basics, you’ll also find pieces with interesting details like the Gara Peach High Rise Bikini, one of our favorite pieces. Sophisticated and timeless are how previous collections have been described; they carry style, not just trend, and are made to last.
The Resort Collection, which will come out in the fall, includes different color tones. It’s still edgy but has some gorgeous shades of green and blue that are more subtle than the popping, adventurous colors of the summer collection. There are also some more innovative styles, a dress that doubles as a bikini, customizable zips that transition you from day to night, reversible tops, and lots of mix-and-match potential across the collection inspired by Nigerian and African culture.
Andrea Iyamah can shop online in boutiques in Washington DC, Lagos, Accra, Cape Town, Kuwait, and the Dominican Republic. They’re also stocked in Saks and Bloomingdales for NYC clientele. Check it out on Instagram.
Of course, what’s a swimsuit without a tan? Check out the bosses of self-tan, Mystic Tan, here.
