The SAG Awards had some gorgeous beauty looked that weren’t bad but just OK. I can’t give anyone a worst look, but we’ll just call it a basic look. I get that celebrities are sometimes apprehensive about taking risks for fear that they will end up on the worst list,, soll give them a bit of grace. Here’s my list of beautiful and basic looks from the SAG Awards.
Beautiful – Amanda Seyfried
No one was more surprised than me at how successfully she pulled off this homage to retro-go-go hair and this fresh, minimal makeup. She hit this look out of the park!
Basic – Quinta Brunson
This hurts my heart because I love Quinta, but this hair missed the mark. The makeup was simple and pretty, but nothing showstopping about it. I honestly think, in this case, the hair took away from the pretty makeup.
Beautiful – Jessica Chastain
This is how you have fun on the carpet! I love this nod to the 1950s. The extended wing liner, the teased crown creating a high bump, and the bright pop of pink lipstick all make for a memorable red carpet-moment!
Basic – Elizabeth Debicki
Here is another example of nothing wrong with the makeup, but it’s incredibly understated. The hair is also underwhelming. While she does look nice, there’s nothing spectacular about this look. It’s simple and classic.
Beautiful – Julia Garner
I love the risk Julia took with this copper-red eyeshadow, it complements her blue eyes to perfection! And her face-framing bangs bring attention to her stunning eye makeup.
Basic – Antonia Gentry
I appreciate Antonia for taking a chance with the hair, but it did not work. The avant-garde high ponytail style looked strange paired with such a sweet gown. The makeup is lovely, and I appreciate the attention to detail her MUA spent on the browse.
Beautiful – Sheryl Lee Ralph
Sheryl is an absolute vision on the red carpet. Her half-up half, down hairstyle is fun and flirty, and her makeup is giving golden goddess. A 10 out of 10!
Basic – Jenny Slate
I love a statement red lip, but it’s clear that Jenny played it extremely safe for this red carpet look. Minimal makeup with a bold lip and a chignon. This look has nothing wrong, but it’s not memorable either.
Beautiful – Stephanie Hsu
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Stephanie look better! I love the wet hair look with volume and separation; the fluffy lashes are gorgeous, and the gold and pink eyeshadow combo is lovely on her.
Basic – Haley Lu Richardson
While I love the finish of her skin – it looks like butter, and I can appreciate a statement lip, there’s nothing else special about her makeup. And I wouldn’t say I like her hair at all; it is quite underwhelming.
Beautiful – Cara Delevingne
Is it possible for Cara to look any more perfect? Her eyeshadow and fluffy lashes are stunning, her red lipstick is the perfect shade for her skin tone, and her hair is simple but not dull. The center part and loose wave are both elegant and eye-catching.
Basic – Emily Blunt
I went back and forth with this one a few times Because I love the lip color, but in the end, I had to admit that this look was just OK. The hair is not red-carpet worthy. It does not look bad, but there is absolutely nothing about this hair that screams movie star. It’s super minimal.
