Saaf Garments’ “Flamboyantly Minimalist” Collection

Up and coming brand Saaf Garments previewed their first collection entitled Season 1 – Campaign 1 The Introduction. Designed by founder Osama Syed, Saaf Garments is a unisex brand that blends Syed’s cultural heritage with his American upbringing. The brand’s name itself is a blend of two cultures, with “saaf” meaning “clean” in Urdu and “garments” being an English word. Described as “flamboyantly minimalist,” the new collection is a mix of black and white pieces with cutting edge lines and simple, clean looks.

Syed’s collection has been a year and a half in the making. “It’s all been living in my head rent-free for so long and to be able to see it live and have a life, and take on a life of its own, it’s so incredible,” he said. The brand’s team is a tight-knit group that have been working towards this moment for a long time.

The color palette of using only black and white was an intentional choice for Syed. “It’s really referencing the yin and yang, and light and the darkness, and play on colors that I find to be so incredible,” he noted. “It’s the absence of light, and then the opposite of that.”

Another emphasis placed on this season’s collection are the pleats. According to Syed, they’re inspired by South Asian clothing, where pleats have historically been a staple in their clothing for many years.

Season 1 – Campaign 1 The Introduction is part of a five-part campaign. Each piece will be available to pre-order 6 weeks following the campaign launch. Saaf Garments is just getting started, with their website having just gone live. You can visit their website here.
