As a Black girl, my sunscreen journey has been nothing less than tragic. Throughout the years, I have been forced to use subpar products that do everything from making me look like Beetlejuice, to burning the living f***k out of my eyes. The variety in SPF options has only come about recently – and a sista is thankful! I have happily been using Sun Bum for the past few years, but another product recently landed in my lap and rocked my world! My holy grail sunscreen is now Weekend Skin by Iris&Romeo, and it was life-changing!
The first reason for my love affair with this magical sunscreen is that it makes my skin look luminescent without that oily finish that way too many sunscreens seem to leave. Full transparency, as a beauty professional with over ten years of experience, I do benefit from the perks of receiving a PR box or two. I was first introduced to this product by way of a press package. I thought nothing of it because I usually find most sunscreens underwhelming. But, this one made me a damn liar! When I pumped out a bit to test, I was convinced that due to its taupe color, I was going to look like an extra in “Thriller”. I put it on anyway for s**ts and giggles and was amazed by what I saw. This sunscreen has one of the most beautiful finishes I’ve ever seen.
In addition to the fact that this sunscreen is gorgeous, it has an SPF of 50 and contains vitamin C. Before this; I had never heard of a sunscreen that protects you from the sun and brightens! This sunscreen can be worn alone for a subtle glow or under your makeup for a lit within look. Not going to lie, it’s a bit pricey at $47, but can we really put a price on not looking casket ready?
