Meet the S/S 2024 NYFW Newcomers

By Madison Manczko

New York Fashion Week is right around the corner! While we love seeing what the returning designers are up to, it’s especially exciting to learn what fresh perspectives new brands are bringing to the world of runway. Here’s everything you need to know about this season’s New York Fashion Week newcomers!

Advisry

While we can expect Sacramento-based brand Advisry to make an appearance on the NYFW runway this season, they are so much more than a fashion label. The brand was founded by Keith Herron (AKA “Rooftop”) at age 13 and began as a humble clothing brand. Now, Advisry creates everything from films to music mixes. Their clothing meshes youth with class, breathing fresh life into the fashion sphere while bringing coolness and sophistication to young people. His latest collection, “Masculine Feminin”, embraces gender nonconformity, proving that, like the brand itself, nothing can be put in a box. Advisry is scheduled to make its NYFW debut on Sunday, September 10.

Chan Chit Lo

Using the statement, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” as inspiration, founder Venus Lo celebrates the power of imperfections and the beauty in the mundane. Chan Chit Lo is a fashion brand based in New York and Shanghai and was founded as recently as 2019. They specialize in upcycled, handcrafted designs, which is extremely visible in their two most recent menswear collections, “Mother of the Sea” and “Beyond the Sea,” which play heavily with unique materials and textures. Chan Chit Lo will be premiering at NYFW on September 10.

FFORME

FFORME is one of the more luxury-focused newcomers; however, their prices directly translate into the quality of their materials and innovation across the board. Cofounded by Paul Helbers, Nina Khosla, and Laura Vazquez, FFORME is a womenswear brand made for ambitious, refined women. Their clothes are made to empower women to dominate the spaces they enter, and with their pieces specifically designed to need little tailoring, wearers can look and feel chic no matter their body shape. FFORME’S collection will no doubt bring minimalism, modernity, and sophistication to NYFW this season on September 10.

Grace Ling

Grace Ling brings fashion technology to the next level. It uses 3D printing and CGI technology in an effort to celebrate sustainability and eccentricity. They use 3D printing to make unique metal pieces, including their signature “Butt Bag.” Founder Grace Ling got her start by studying fashion design at Parsons School of Design in New York and Central Saint Martins in London. Her additional background in sculpture and performance art gives her work a fascinating edge when it comes to celebrating the human form. Grace Ling will make her NYFW debut on September 8.

Sho Konishi

Sho Konishi is the definition of pushing the boundaries. He is a fashion designer based in New York with a Master’s degree from PARSONS, Paris College of Art, Haute Technology, and Haute Couture Fashion Design, and a Bachelor’s from the Tokyo Mode Gakuen College of Fashion and Design. For him, fashion design is a “tangible representation of human existence,” and this is apparent in his hyper-modern designs. His “Android” and “Insects” collections are fascinating and futuristic displays of human expression. Sho Konishi will be digitally displaying his wearable art at NYFW on September 13.
