This month we joined fine jeweler Angara for an event to celebrate their new ‘Celebrate with Color’ campaign. Taking the inspiration color of the Holi festival and translating it into beautiful gemstone pieces.

“In ancient Sanskit,” Angar” means”the fire within” and not only has the fire within the Earth created the gemstones with which the brand works, but it also represents the individuality of their customers.”People are drawn to different things, have different hobbies, and are attracted to different colors and shapes. So each person’s fire is different. We are different in many ways, and this campaign is about celebrating the unique fire within everyone,” says Co-Founder Ankur Daga. “In ancient Sanskit, “Angara” means “the fire within” and not only has the fire within the Earth created the gemstones with which the brand works, but it also represents the individuality of their customers. “Each person is drawn to different things, has different hobbies, is attracted to different colours and shapes. “Ankur and his wife founded the company 16 years ago, and truly the brand came from love.”I was trying to find the right anniversary gift (we had been married three years already), and nothing spoke to me at the time. I wanted to pick a stone and then the various components of the ring, but despite so much choice in the market, I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted.” “Ankur and his wife founded the company 16 years ago, and truly the brand came from love. “I was trying to find the right anniversary gift (we had been married three years already) and nothing spoke to me at the time. Angara sources the stones directly from mines worldwide, purchasing the rough stones, which are then cut, polished, and turned into curated or bespoke collections at their own premises. While starting as a supplier to other retailers, in 2005, the brand launched a direct shop for independent customers, and you can now see their collections online at www.angara.com

“At the event, we spoke to Ankur about the longevity of the gemstone industry and how the increasing shortages of gems are impacting the business.”Prices are getting higher as the natural sources are reduced, but we are working on a lab-grown line which not only means we can maintain our supply but also create significantly more affordable pieces. For example, a fine Colombian peridot would typically be in the region of $50,000, but a lab-grown piece would be priced at around $5,000.”At the event, we spoke to Ankur about the longevity of the gemstone industry and how the increasing shortages of gems are impacting the business. “Prices are getting higher as the natural sources are reduced, but we are working on a lab-grown line which not only means we can maintain our supply but also create significantly more affordable pieces. The party enabled guests to see and try on some of Angara’s stunning range, receive a color reading, participate in the Holi tradition of having the Gulal powder on the face, and guests all took home a necklace.
