Introducing a new, Colombian, *sustainable* swimwear brand: Bee Surreal.
We discovered Bee Surreal at Miami Swim Week, and were super impressed with both the collection design, and the ethics behind the brand. Not only does the brand donate 8% of sales to the Colombian NGO Tree and Honey Foundation, they are also using sustainable materials such as organic cotton and cañamo, an industrial hemp. These natural materials use much less water to produce and are grown without the use of pesticides which are extremely harmful to bees.
The newest collection, From the Farm, is just that – swimwear inspired by the farm, with a slightly unexpected design twist. As well as fruit prints, there are also bikinis, one-pieces and sarongs in a rooster print (right?!) and cow hide print. This From the Farm collection is designed to showcase the importance of bees in the ecosystem, and particularly in farming and where they’re crucial to growing food for humans and animals.
This collection has zero waste packaging, coming wrapped beautifully furoshiki wrap style in printed scarves that double up as a purse or beachwear. We love it!
Our purpose is to leave a mark, inspire others and transcend. That is why we support programs that will focus on the conservation, protection and preservation of bees, the most important living being on the planet according to the Earthwatch Institute.
The brand is founded by 17 year-old Lolita Tobón. Read more about the brand and shop here. Follow along on Instagram here.
