Pyer Moss debuted its much-anticipated collaboration with Reebok amidst a moving choir performance curated by Raphael Saadiq. Models walked to the tunes of Kendrick Lamar, Lalah Hathaway, Bruce Springsteen and Boris Gardiner that represented black empowerment. The collection, titled “American, Also,” was inspired by the black cowboys in the 19th century.

The collection told the “story of underrepresented groups of Americans” through athletic wear including outerwear and joggers. “The phrase cowboy, which was meant to be demeaning and derogatory, is being re-seen as regal and spiritual. Our hope is to continue to challenge traditional narratives of minority groups in this country and tell uplifting stories within our work, which encourage inclusion.” said designer Kerby Jean-Raymond in a statement.

In addition to debuting womenswear for the first time, Jean-Raymond also created new renditions of its ’90s running sneaker, the DMX Run 10. The iconic Reebok running sneaker features the brands’ moving air technology and contemporary silhouette.

Key pieces of the collection included a faux fur bomber jacket with the classic Reebok logo written across the back and wide-legged joggers in red, white and blue, with letters “REEBOK” down one leg and “AS USA AS U” on the other.
