Paris Haute Couture F/W 2017- Laskaris

This past Tuesday, Laskaris presented his F/W 17 collection at Paris’s swanky haunt FAUS for his eponymous label. The Greek designer found inspiration in a “surreal world, where the dream is omnipresent, the act of creation is spontaneous and paradoxically anchored in the present.” He successfully juxtaposes the modern age and Ancient Greece by pairing hand-molded enamel with structural silhouettes, all while concocting his creations in lavish leather, linen, and cashmere. Ornate embroidery complimented sumptuous shades of red, white and gold while decadent beading and fur detailing stole the show.

Laskaris explained his source of innovation and creativity for the collection, saying, “My work is only a reflection of what I think, I feel, I try and I realize… Knowing how to see a situation with the eyes of the spirit is the best way to see it with the greatest objectivity possible. To see means to conceive, and that is the true nature of thought.” Undeniably, Laskaris achieves his goal of giving heritage a fresh, luxe look.
