On September 9, 2023, alice + olivia founder and designer Stacey Bendet presented her Spring 2024 collection, entitled,“The Black and White Ball.” In the collection, Bendet paid homage to one of the most iconic eras in fashion.

Launched in 2002, alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet allows women to express their personal style. From whimsical, to sexy, to flirty, to sophisticated, the designer brand is for everybody. Stemming from Bendet’s quest to create the perfect pair of pants, alice + olivia has received worldwide recognition and is a favored brand of celebrities such as Beyonce, Gigi Hadid, Michelle Obama, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jessica Alba.

On November 28, 1966, one of New York City’s most iconic and glamorous social events occurred. More than 500 notable guests appeared at the Plaza Hotel’s ballroom for author Truman Capote’s Black and White Ball. Inspired by Capote’s group of socialite friends, consisting of Lee Radziwill, Marella Agnelli, Gloria Guinness, C.Z.Guest, Slim Keith, Pamela Harriman, and Babe Paley and called his “Swans,” Bendet created a new and modernized version of the time period’s fashion.

Bendet immaculately created a collection that would be worn by the “Swans” today. She effortlessly styled big black and white ball gowns with chic jackets and gigantic bows. One look was a white feather dress that emulated that of Princess Odette in the quintessential ballet “Swan Lake.” Yet, Bendet doesn’t end her looks just there. On the complete flip side, florals dominated the presentation room called, “The Garden.” Every cocktail dress, pantsuit, and top was adorned with painted flowers.
