Tadashi Shoji debuted his Fall 2022 collection in a New York Fashion Week digital presentation.

Inspired by boundless expression, Shoji presents a collection that celebrates a fluidity of style, occasion, and presentation. Pieces include a tuxedo-style coat dress, a lace patchwork illusion gown, and a pearl-dotted chiffon trapeze dress.

Menswear-inspired textiles are glamorized, from pinstripe-inspired diamanté on stretch velvet to chevron jacquard suiting. Draping is ultra-feminized in bombshell cuts where piecework overlaps and wraps to create skin-revealing slits. Fall 2022’s message encourages us to free ourselves from fashion’s implicit rules. Don, a coat dress cut with menswear-borrowed proportions, or adopt tuxedo styling that focuses on curve and form.

“This season, glam up. Tease the typecast and outfit how you envision. Wear gowns to feel good because confidence is beautiful and confident beauty is radiant. Remain exquisitely you.”

–Tadashi Shoji

Tadashi Shoji celebrates a fluidity of style, occasion and, presentation because the spectrum is full color, and dresses are brimming with excitement, irresistibility, and fun. The palette is saturated, bold, and embellished, while the texture is indulgent. This season’s evening arsenal conveys a joy for craftsmanship, from corded embroideries and lace patchwork to smocked tulle and pearl-dotted chiffon.

This season, there’s a variety of shapes and silhouettes. We continue successful styles: gowns with modified A-lines—a fit that skims the hips then falls into effortless volume, long-sleeved gowns and dresses, our signature twist-drape styles, and plenty of V-plunge necklines. We’ve also reintroduced the blouson waist, a flattering-for-all waistline that’s easy to wear, and the always regal floor-length cape. There are voluminous bubble sleeves, bubble neckline ruffles, a paillette-embroidered beaded caftan, and a sultry array of backless styles for the fashionistas who love to make a statement.
