NYBFW Trends for Fall 2024

From October 10 to October 13, New York Bridal Fashion Week was in session. Bridal designers from all over the world poured into the Big Apple to display their designs in markets and runways, presenting to the public their new Fall 2024 collections. Here are some of the trends we saw this season.

Mini Wedding Dresses
Morilee

The “second-look” dress is becoming more and more popular these days at weddings. Brides want to look their best not only for the actual ceremony, but also for the reception, rehearsal dinner, or day-after brunch. Bridal designers have adapted well to this need, and many brands have started to release a “second-look” line, which often features white mini-dresses. This Morilee look is a perfect example of the white mini wedding dress, with its mid-thigh length and exaggerated sleeves, perfect for a bride to change into after the ceremony.

Rosettes
 Esé Azénabor

While rosettes were out of fashion for a while, they are slowly making a comeback! Florals have recently been featured heavily amongst the bridal fashion world. With the cute little blooms dotting dresses from front to back, it’s no wonder they’re returning to the runway. Rosettes are prominent in this Esé Azénabor look, with a blush pink dress and matching flowers to go with it, draping the dress from the bust diagonally down to the feet.

Oversized Bows
Nardos

It’s no secret that bows are a big part of bridal fashion, but the bows featured in recent collections seem to be getting bigger and bigger. This Nardos dress from their Fall 2024 collection prominently displays a ginormous bow right in the center of the dress, adding a bit of exaggerated flair to a more understated dress that rests right above the ankles.

Blue
Ines di Santo

While the white bridal gown is of course traditional, modern brides are looking to step away from the symbolism of the white gown and add a bit of flavor by changing up the color. This season, blue was popular, as seen in this Ines di Santo gown. From their new Fall 2024 collection, this gown’s fabric has hints of that gorgeous pastel blue that just screams wedding. Hopefully, more colors like this pop up in the bridal scene!

Sustainable Dresses
Matte Satin Cowl Back Gown, tempete

In this day and age, designers have become more environmentally conscious. Sustainable wedding dresses are now popular, with the aim of these dresses being worn not just for the wedding, but afterwards too. Tempête is one brand whose mission is to provide sustainable wedding dresses that can be worn multiple times, so as not to be wasteful. This Matte Satin Cowl Back Gown is a perfect example of a dress that can and should be seen again and again, not just on a wedding day!
