Muhammad Elglawly, the designer behind street wear label The CXX, found inspiration in the infectious, fast paced energy of New York City for his collaborative collection with W New York. The designer sent out slim cut trousers with a number of colorful graphic tees that referenced iconic New York imagery. Notable pieces from CXX for W included a hoodie and matching slacks that donned golden side stripes. Elglawly experimented with the idea of what street wear could be for the collaboration by adding details to garments that, overall, made the line stand out from the swarm of street wear brands presentations that occurred this week.

Elglawly creates for the upscale, street wear enthusiast, as he combines contemporary designs with Italian craftsmanship. Although the collection was presented as menswear, street chic ladies came to the designer’s after party wearing pieces from the collection. Even DJ dou Breezy and Coco sported CXX for W as they performed at the event. Elglawly’s creative capacities prove that there’s more to street wear than just functionality.
