Celebrities are known for their style, but singers have a cutting edge style that beckons to be noticed. One singer in particular began her career as a trailblazer and innovator of style. Madonna is the queen of reinvention with every album comes an evolution of her style. In the eighties, Madonna stepped on the scene with her signature hair bow, stacked bangles, and punk glam esthetic. Her first singles “Burning Up”, “Lucky Star” and “Borderline” made her an MTV star and her style was display for all to see. Soon girls around the nation were emulating her sexy crop tops and lace gloves.
The world was just getting a taste of what the style maiden had in store. Her next album “Like a Virgin” was charted as a #1 hit on the US charts and Madonna’s look was elevated to a whole new level. She still held on to her signature bows and lace gloves but she was a bit more polished, more of a sexpot and less tomboy. In the “Like a Virgin” video she wore her signature white lace bustier and full skirt, full lace gloves and cropped wedding gown, and “boy toy” name plate belt. The look was iconic and would forever be associated with the Queen of Pop.
