During the Spring/Summer 2012 fashion shows this past September, designers in fashion capitals all over the world showcased collections full of explosions of color, prints and a wide variety of fabrics. After studying the collections, I noticed a few colors and silhouettes making numerous appearances. Trend alert!
Lace is commonly associated with purity and grace, yet this season designers presented this light fabric in a very edgy fashion. It was seen on runways in bright exuberant colors and gave off a dark daring vibe. Despite being used in a very contrasting light this upcoming season, lace dresses are very elegant and chic. This bold trend was seen on many runways typically paired with a high-waisted bottom. If exposing more skin makes you slightly uneasy, this bra-top can be coupled with a jacket of the same color or print. Symmetrical bra-tops were seen with lace and gold accentuates. As the weather gets hot in the summer, prepare to amaze with this risky trend! (Photo: Dolce & Gabbana, Emilio Pucci, Victor and Rolf and Versace)
Trend: Floral print
Dresses with floral prints in bright colors have a festive feminine hint to them. Designers didn’t shy away from using bright color pallets and matching the hues of shoes and accessories to the actual floral pattern of the dress. As seen on the runways, wearing such a colorful piece of clothing should be complimented by equally noticeable and bright make-up. Prepare to compliment the warm summer weather with your outfit. Trend: Summer Suit
As an alternative to the common 3-piece suit, designers are offering edgy yet classic silhouette. The shorts are shorter, the blazers and blouses are perfectly matched and shoes and make-up are very light and understated. This look is very professional in a solid color, yet very playful and lively in print. (Photo: Proenza Schouler, Givenchy, Jil Sander and Ralph Lauren)
