As the winter holidays roll around the corner, New Yorkers start jotting down long lists of gift ideas. All of a sudden, it seems impossible to decide where to buy that perfect bag for a best friend or a stylish pair of jeans for a niece. Having plenty of stores to choose from, wouldn’t it be perfect to make a great purchase while helping out a good cause as well? This holiday season, many department stores, fashion brands and designers are offering discounts on fashions while contributing to numerous charities.

Starting in November, Barneys is the one department store standing out with its impressive colorful presentation of Lady Gaga’s Workshop. The daring collection offers apparel, accessories, jewelry, toys, media, treats and cosmetics inspired by Lady Gaga’s edgy style. Putting together a Barney’s holiday gift bag featuring Gaga’s signature Lace Sunglasses and a Military Hat would absolutely thrill edgy urban fashionistas and Mama Monster’s loyal fans. What we find personally thrilling at Fashion 360 Magazine is Lady Gaga’s choice to donate 25% of all proceeds to a Born This Way foundation, which promotes acceptance and bravery. What a great way to make a fashionable difference!

Another department store offering a festive shopping experience this holiday season is Macy’s with the launch of its annual Believe campaign to benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation, a charity granting wishes to children with life-threatening diseases. Taking a break from shopping, Macy’s customers will have a chance to write a personal letter to Santa, which would contribute $1 to Make-A-Wish. Previously collecting over a million letters annually, Macy’s continues this heartwarming tradition. In addition, Macy’s offers an online gift guide featuring sales on designer sweaters, jewelry, watches, handbags and more!

Starting November 11th, Forever 21 also joined into the movement of making a fashionable difference this holiday season by collaborating with Big Brothers Big Sisters, an organization dedicated to helping children realize their dreams and launch successful futures. Forever 21 will carry several graphic t-shirts for men and women with inspirational slogans such as “Start Something” all under $20! A regular t-shirt is very stylish under a blazer with skinny jeans and combat boots, especially knowing that a dollar you spent on this t-shirt will go towards the BBBS organization. A gift bag full of goodies from Forever 21 this holiday season is ideal for a youthful chic consumer.

Also making a stylish difference this season is the Ann Taylor Loft donating $100,000 from sales on certain items to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as well as asking customers to make additional donations. Marc Jacobs has a line of cozy t-shirts, 100% of proceeds of which benefit the Aid for AIDS International foundation. Sephora donates $1 from its sales of certain items of The Sephora Collection to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. These cute beauty items are perfect for filling Christmas stockings!

All these and many more fashion and beauty brands show that making a significant difference is easy and fun this season. Who knew that what you’re wrapping as a gift for a loved one is actually helping millions of people out there!? With this in mind, now let’s go shopping!

I love that hat!! It reminds me of the hat worn in the 80′s movie “SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL.” Finally I can get one for myself!
