For this collection, Brazil was the main inspiration. She used aspects of light and dark, which represented juxtaposition between the vibrant culture and the darkness of the lush, shady Amazon. While speaking of the process of designing, Ruicci mentioned that she likes to explore every aspect of the location she wishes to base her designs on. Last season, this designer constructed her collection based on ancient Turkish Harem culture, and after a bit of questioning, it’s safe to say that ancient Italy and the lost Etruscan culture may be on the horizon for the future of Laruicci.
If you were one of the many coveting the famous Man-Eater Claws, or Transformer Claw rings, I won’t leave you hanging! Laruicci’s products can be found online at www.laruicci.com, and if you happen to be in the New York City area, be sure to check out the Laruicci’s Fall trunk show at Bloomingdales on August 19-21st. After launching in the spring of 2009, Laruicci has been seen in a number of magazines, including ELLE, InStyle, and Vogue, among many others. This young designer is one to watch, and is sure to make a splash with future collections. Oh–the scoop about an Italian inspired collection? You didn’t hear it from me.
